I saw The History of Violence with Vernon on a Late Night and a bowl of popcorn.
The Film I was told was violent and boy was it ever. I have to admit that I was at times looking at the screen; I was taken a little back by what I saw.
Now grant it, the people that watch faces of Death films and watch movies like Hellraiser with there six year old kids will not be bothered one bit by this film.
But I being somewhat normal and do not usually watch films like this, it wasn’t very graphic and I was actually impressed how it was pulled off.
Though I could see where some may have a problem with it.
The second scene of the film was what you may call a character builder, making you believe the family all love one another and the love life and everything is wonderful.
They did not pull it off; actually it was painful to watch. I won’t tell you what they were doing, only that you will agree with me.
The movie was shot in a stylized fashion which fit the film…which was good.
Vernon immediately thought the dialogue ruined the film…I have to admit that some of it was odd. Then I got to thinking that, How do Mobsters talk? So I let the dialogue slide.
This film you would not want to take your kids to see, not just the violence but also the sex scenes in the film which where very graphic, to Vernon’s delight.
There are two of them…both of them are night and day, meaning that one was…like the title of the film.
They story was good and the characters were fun to watch, even though you knew what was probably going to happen.
But you were thrust in his world hoping that he would come out of it unscathed, but you knew he wasn’t.
If you go see this film there maybe a 50, 50 chance you will like it.
Now if you like violence, and like graphic nudity, you will enjoy this film.
In other words, I loved this film.
