LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20, 2006 — “We’re defying the conventions of traditional literary marketing by releasing a teaser trailer for a book,” announces Frank Beddor, author of “The Looking Glass Wars.” “As far as I know, no one has produced a special effects-driven animated preview to promote a novel.
Though this is much more than a static representation, it’s yet another illustration of how a picture paints 1,000 words.” Beddor’s book (the first of a trilogy), will be published in the U.S. Sept. 26, 2006, by Dial Books, a division of Penguin Group (USA) Inc. and Scholastic Audiobooks.
The teaser trailer, meanwhile, will premiere Sept. 26 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time in simultaneous presentations on MySpace, Yahoo, IGN.com, AOL Red, YouTube and iFilm. Making its debut on November 7, 2006, is the Looking Glass Wars Soundtrack (Automatic Records; of course, a soundtrack to a book is also a rarity).
