Why not make a Broke Back 2 with chicks instead of dudes? I mean really, if the subject matter is handled correctly then this could be a huge hit. Actually if the subject matter was handled incorrectly this still would be a huge hit. Yesterday I saw a bunch of guys standing in front of Blockbuster Video picketing the store for selling Broke Back Mountain. I found this to be incredibly funny since two of the guys were drinking Select brand soda which you can only buy at Walmart, and guess what? Walmart also is selling Broke Back Mountain. None of the guys were picketing there. I think the picketing had more to do with not liking Blockbuster then it did with the graphic portrayal of steamy man love in Broke Back.
The point here is that for my money a nice long shower scene with Alba and Berry would be a great way to kick of next years Oscars. Let’s face it though, Broke Back two will never be. If Hollywood approached any of the A-list chicks out there and said “Hey, we’re making a movie about true lesbian love” Jessica would turn to them and say “Then get Rosie O’Donnell to star in it.” Between you me and the entire internet, I don’t want to see Rosie getting it on with Melissa Ethridge.
This is a scattered thought I know but I feel the need to say one more thing. The two lead characters in Broke Back were played by straight men. Why do you think that was? My theory is that no truly gay man could pull off the masculinity needed in order to play these make believe homosexual cowboys. Every time I meet some guy who says he finally came out of the closet I ask myself, came out of the closet? I was pretty sure he was gay since I met him four years ago. The only difference from being in the closet to being out is that they actually tell people they are gay instead of us just surmising it uncomfortably on our own.
In closing I just want to say, Broke Back two sounds hot!
