From TrekToday:

Paramount Pictures today officially announced the return of Star Trek on Christmas Day 2008.

“If there’s something I’m dying to see, it’s the brilliance and optimism of Roddenberry’s world brought back to the big screen,” J.J. Abrams was quoted in a Paramount press release, which in its title again confirmed Abrams will be directing the new Trek film. Abrams continued: “[Alex Kurtzman] and Roberto Orci] wrote an amazing script that embraces and respects Trek canon, but charts its own course. Our goal is to make a picture for everyone — life-long fans and the uninitiated. Needless to say, I am honored and excited to be part of this next chapter of Star Trek.”

Kurtzman and Orci, who previously worked on Abrams’ Mission: Impossible III, were the only writers mentioned in the press release. They will also serve as executive producers along with Bryan Burk, while Abrams and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof will produce the film. Shooting is currently scheduled to begin in the Fall.

“We could not be more thrilled to be back in business with J.J. Abrams,” Paramount CEO and Chairman Brad Grey said. “The revival of the Star Trek franchise is an important part of Paramount’s turnaround.”

Earlier today, casting rumors for the new film surfaced (story), but Paramount’s press release contained no information on the film’s cast.

In: Game Review

By Boot Scraper

We’re getting into those months of the extreme gaming drought. The holidays are over and companies are still reeling in the cash from the big titles like Gears Of War, Zelda, and Resistance. Plus, no holiday buying spree, so why waste the big titles on regular days? Luckily for us gamers, some companies feel the need to release huge titles, even when people aren’t going crazy at Best Buy. One of those big titles released to us in this year’s lackluster selling months is Crackdown for the Xbox 360. But is it more than just another GTA rip-off?

Aaron Eckhart talks Two-Face

In: Movie News

two faceOne of the many reasons I Hated the last Batman with Two Face is that they didn’t get a pretty boy. They got a good actor, but completely wrong for the part. Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne are friends, close friends that hang out so they would be close to the same age. Also, like I said Harvey could get the ladies because he is a pretty boy. Tommy Lee Jones does not match Two-Face at all. Aaron Eckhart seems perfect for the roll. He was great in Thank You for Smoking. I just hope that dont make always yelling and stupid. Two-Face is a smooth character that you should be afraid of, because at any moment he could kill you just by listening to a coin. Read on too see what he says about his part. Flushed Away: Irondudes Did Pick

In: DVD News

Roddy is a decidedly upper-crust “society mouse” who lives the life of a beloved pet in a posh Kensington flat. When a sewer rat named Sid comes spewing out of the sink and decides he’s hit the jackpot, Roddy schemes to rid himself of the pest by luring him into the “whirlpool.” Sid may be an ignorant slob, but he’s no fool, so it is Roddy who winds up being flushed away into the bustling sewer world of Ratropolis. There Roddy meets Rita, an enterprising scavenger who works the sewers in her faithful boat, the Jammy Dodger. Roddy immediately wants out, or rather, up; Rita wants to be paid for her trouble; and, speaking of Read the rest of this entry »

Heroes: “Company Man” - Chapter 17 Review

In: Television

heroesWhat Happens: H.R.G.’s (Jack Coleman) past catches up to him as Matt (Greg Grunberg) and Ted Sprague (guest star Matthew John Armstrong), come to Texas looking for answers, and take him, his wife, son and Claire (Hayden Panettiere) hostage — leading to a tragic, explosive showdown. Secrets are revealed and new threats to the “heroes” are introduced. Ashley Crow and Eric Roberts (”Less Than Perfect”) guest-star.

What I thought: This one was great. It focused on Matt the Mind reader and Claires Dad. The show makes hime out so you will not like him, but I have liked him from the start. He is always trying to keep two steps ahead of the company. But we see it blow up in his face, literally! Eric Roberts is in the show now…ok, I guess. Maybe he will grow on me.
