When American companies introduce products tailored for foreign tastes, we often experience discomfiting culture shock. Sort of like when Homer Simpson uses his toaster time machine to go back 10 million years, steps on a slug, and then comes back to an oddly different world. Maybe that really did happen, and Springfield is now Tokyo! Spacedog Entertainment and Top Cow Productions Kick Off New ContestMay 14th, 2008 – Los Angeles, CA – Spacedog Entertainment and Top Cow Productions have teamed up to create a contest where aspiring comic writers and artists can submit their work for publication. The contest, dubbed “Choose Your Own Creator,” launched on May 1st, 2008 and runs through April 15th, 2009. Lovers of Narnia, rejoice! “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” arrives in theaters May 16, and fans who have been hooked ever since “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” can hardly wait to see the adventure continue. Once again, the Pevensie siblings will find themselves in the magical world they’ve discovered — although this time, things will be shockingly different.

And no one is more excited than Ben Barnes, who has joined the series as Prince Caspian. The prince, rightful heir to the throne of Narnia, must join the Pevensies to save the kingdom. Spinning out of the 1968 Star Trek TV episode “Assignment Earth,” was intended by Gene Roddenberry as the pilot for a spin-off series that never came to pass, Byrne’s new series presents the series that never was, in print.
