Here is a note from the books creator Aaron Rintoul:

“Masks began as an exercise in sequential storytelling using only visuals, mainly photography and digital painting . When I decided to actually letter Masks I felt the writing needed to be just as unique as its visual style. What I came up with was more of a graphic poem than a graphic novel. On the surface “Masks” is a dark psychological thriller that follows a girl named Sarah who’s thoughts and memories are not always her own. Masks is a non linear story and is meant to be left open to interpretation, so I won’t elaborate and spoil that aspect of it. My intention with Masks was to make something highly original that I had never seen done in comics before and a book the reader would want to open up more than just once.”

Hope you enjoy it!

Ben Templesmith’s Wormwood Collected At Last

In: Comic Book News

Ben Templesmith’s love affair with tentacles continues. Wormwood, the English-accented, beer-drinking, sentient corpse possessing a “maggot expat from the Hell dimension,” returns in Wormwood: Calamari Rising (TPB), a deluxe collection of the acclaimed four-issue miniseries from IDW Publishing. The volume, sporting an all-new cover from the Eisner-nominated Templesmith, will be in stores June 4.

“Some say Wormwood is rather autobiographical,” says Templesmith, “though for me, it’s more about the British sense of humor in the stuff I grew up with, like Doctor Who, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Blackadder as well as a healthy fetish with monsters, putting them in a blender and seeing what comes out.” Read the rest of this entry »
