BBC AMERICA acquires all-new season of sci-fi phenomenon Torchwood
Comic-Con, San Diego - BBC AMERICA today announced the acquisition of the highly anticipated season three of its hit sci-fi series, Torchwood. The highest rating show in the history of BBC AMERICA will return to the channel with five all-new episodes in 2009.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) has signed Darren Aronofsky to direct and David Self to write a new installment for its ROBOCOP franchise. Aronofsky, the director of The Fountain, and Self, the writer of Road to Perdition, make a formidable creative team, fast tracking the ROBOCOP motion picture and spotlighting it as one of the most anticipated new films for 2010.
The announcement was made today by Mary Parent, Chairman, Worldwide Motion Picture Group, MGM.
In making the announcement Parent said: “Darren is undeniably one of the most talented, original and visceral film makers, and David is one of the greatest writers in Hollywood. All of us at MGM couldn’t be more excited.”

Benderspink has picked up the film rights to Red 5 Comics’ recently released horror/action comic “ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction” by “Underworld” writer-producer Kevin Grevioux.
“ZMD” is the story of a new government weapons program that drops zombies, designed to be photosensitive and dissolve by a set time, into war zones at night to destroy the enemy population. But after one fails to self-destruct in the Middle East, a team of elite soldiers must enter hostile territory to stop a growing zombie army.

Now that he’s got all that talking elephant and numerological obsession nonsense out of the way, Jim Carrey can finally get down to the serious business of comedy.
The rubbery-faced one follows up Horton Hears A Who and The Number 23 with Yes Man, a funny flick based on Brit writer Danny Wallace’s memoirs about a fella who challenges himself to say “Yes” to everything for an entire year.
Judging by the new poster showing on IMP Awards, it’s shaping up to be a return to gurning form for Hollywood’s premier laugh-meister.
