In a recent Wizard magazine interview Selma Blair (Hellboy) mentioned that Guillermo Del Torro will be directing the film version of Neil Gaiman’s “Death The High Cost Of Living”. The High Cost of Living is a continuation of Harvey Award-winning fantasy writer Gaiman’s series detailing the cosmic duties of a loose family of seven immortals. Not quite Gods, they embody realms of psychic experience: Dream, Desire, Despair, Destiny, Delirium, Destruction and Gaiman’s very popular character, Death. Reaper, yes; but Death’s not very grim as she goes about her business visiting the just-about-to-die and ushering them into their new existence. Ok that was a bit of a tangent. Sadly Selma stated that she most likely will not be playing the lead character “Death”. I think that is a surprise since she would be perfect for the roll. That aside I am excited, it’s a great concept, a great story and great director, I’m looking forward to this one.
