Fallen Justice iPhone Comic Book Review

Imagine that you’re the most powerful person on earth. You can fly, you’re indestructible, you’re unbelievably strong, and you have spent a vast portion of your life protecting a public that has come to expect you to be there whenever they need to be saved. Now imagine that you’re dying. This is the premise of Fallen Justice, written by Cary Kelly and Steven Forbes with art by Harold Edge.

Right off the bat you should know that Fallen Justice is great! I’ve seen other titles attempt this take on the superhero comic, but Mr. Kelly and Mr. Forbes did a fantastic job of making it their own by approaching the idea from a different angle. The art is professional, and the writing is polished and well thought out. I of course have a few criticisms, but after reading the series again to write this review, the flaws seem like silly complaints and aren’t worth the time spent writing them out.

Fallen Justice chooses to scrutinize the lives of Superheros from a superhuman perspective. It’s an unusual approach to a superhero comic and that’s why it works so well. Here’s the break down.

    The Plot

Fallen Justice tells the story of what happens when the most powerful hero in the world finds out he’s dying and has 3 months to live. The series begins shortly before he hears the news and then deals with the repercussions of what he decides to do, and the lengths he goes to trying to accomplish his goals of changing the world for the better and leaving things safe for average everyday people. Think about it. If you had enough power to do anything you wanted, and they told you that you have 3 months to live, what would you do with that power? Would you be evil? Would you remain good? Would you do evil for a greater good? Fallen Justice is about the decisions a man makes when backed into the ultimate corner.

    The Writing

Cary Kelly and Steven Forbes have written a clean script. This was an easy to read and easy to understand comic. It could have easily become convoluted with to many characters and concepts but I never felt overwhelmed. The writing gets a thumbs up in my book.

    The Art

I wasn’t so sure about the art in Fallen Justice at first. I’m not saying that Harold Edge did a poor job. It was more of a personal thing. To be fair I scrutinized his work through out the book. I can be a picky bastard sometimes. My conclusion is that Harold Edge did a fantastic job with the art. I couldn’t find anything really juicy to complain about and in the end I really liked his work.

    The Verdict

Fallen Justice is a very interesting comic. It’s dramatic style and cinematic qualities help the book shine. The story is sad; so far I’m not filled with hope, but not everything in life makes us smile. The story is dark, it’s worth reading, and worth taking the time to review. I strongly recommend Fallen Justice. Go get yourself a copy or download it to your Iphone (more on that in a moment).

    The Fallen Justice iPhone App

Isn’t this crazy! You can get a copy of Fallen Justice on your iPhone! This is the first Iphone comic review I have ever done (Probably wont be the last). The fine folks at Red Handed Studios have put together a very cool iPhone comic for Fallen Justice. The pages have been broken down into panels and the entire book was cleverly fit onto the Iphone screen. They did a beautiful job! It looks phenomenal! What makes this even more exciting is that you can download it for FREE! If you would like to download the comic right now, just follow this link: Fallen Justice Iphone App
