Tommy Lee Edwards and John Barrowman team up for Titan’s new Torchwood comic!

Titan Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of Torchwood comic, based on the hit BBC America show.

Acclaimed artist Tommy Lee Edwards, currently working with outspoken TV personality Jonathan Ross on the hit comic series ‘Turf’, has teamed up with John Barrowman (Torchwood’s Captain Jack) and his sister and frequent coworker Carole E. Barrowman, to produce ‘Captain Jack and the Selkie’.

‘Captain Jack and the Selkie’ is one of two original Torchwood stories in issue #1 and sees Jack facing a deadly threat on a remote Scottish island, where people are disappearing one by one. To his horror, Jack starts to suspect he may know who, or rather what, is responsible.

Barrowman is overjoyed to have worked with Edwards, who he describes as one of his favorite artists. The pair began their collaboration when Barrowman and his sister Carole came across a poster of Captain Jack at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con.

“Tommy and Trevor had drawn a brilliant poster of my face super-imposed over the Face of Boe, which I think is the best piece of Captain Jack art I’ve seen,” said Barrowman. “The four of us hit it off immediately and I asked if they’d ever be interested in working with us on a Captain Jack project. They thought about it for, oh, about 30 seconds, and so ‘Captain Jack and the Selkie’ was born!”

The second story is part one of a special five-part story written by Torchwood TV script editor Gary Russell. Entitled ‘Broken’, the story sees Captain Jack, Gwen and Ianto get trapped in a cosmic hotel, while an old villain from the TV series returns.

Artwork for ‘Broken’ is provided by Adrian Salmon, whose work includes The Cybermen for Doctor Who Magazine and Judge Karyn for the Judge Dredd Megazine.

Two collectible covers will be available for each issue – an art cover and a picture cover. British comic book artist Ian Churchill, whose work includes Superman for DC Comics and Avengers, Deadpool, and X-Men for Marvel, has drawn the art cover for issue #1. An alternate art cover, also drawn by Churchill, will be available exclusively at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

Venger Prime #1
Art/Story by Aaron A Baniewicz
44 Pages
Full Color

(Synopsis)
On a quiet Sunday afternoon, Aaron Cash was driving on his way home from a visit to his mother. Along the way through a wooded area, he witnesses the crashing of an alien craft. Aaron approaches the fallen alien craft and is teleported into the ship where he is met by an alien named Zardius Prime, who warns him of an impending doom that shall soon fall upon his world.

Trusting Aaron, He gives Aaron a special item and tells him to activate it when the time is right. Meanwhile, in deep space, The Ky’lar (the threat in which Zardius warned Aaron about) makes their way close to earth and dispatch a spy droid to spy upon Zardius and kill him. The droid informs the Ky’Lar that Zardius has made contact with a human (Aaron) and then send the droid to capture Aaron. The droid hunts down Aaron after a long chase through downtown Edge City and then Zardius appears to rescue Aaron. While Zardius and the droid do battle, Aaron activates the item and is transformed into a powerful being. Thus Venger Prime is born.

BariTales is a web comic that’s beginning to find its feet on the net. The comic stars two cute unknown-kinda-species characters, Blubari and DumDum as they TRY their best to make their audience (You) find the comic funny, and more importantly, get the joke.

The creator of BariTales had this to say.

It’s been 3 long and hard years trying to get the Baritales of Blubari off the ground, and while the comics have not been an overnight hit, I have thoroughly enjoyed doing it.

Business is finally picking up, as they say, and after furnishing the site with a brand new hit-counter just a month or so ago, it’s been heartening to see those numbers rise, albeit a little slowly.

Still, with hardwork, dedication, and lots of love, Baritales will continue to grow and hopefully achieve the greatness it was made for.

Rivera uploaded these awesome photos from the Wizard World Anaheim. The Con was a lot of fun and light on visitors. We had no problem meeting everyone there. Brandon Rivera spent  quite a bit of time getting some great pics.
