“The humor of everyday life is way funnier than what the comedians do on TV. It’s the stuff that happens right in front of your face when there’s no routine and everything is unexpected.”
– Harvey Pekar (1939-2010)

The one our small team is most excited about though is a collaborative effort contained in a series of 200 page graphic novels. The first should release next month. They are the epic STEAMTOWN serial books, best described as Shakespearean Sci-fi Noir… A sprawling saga part police procedural, part Shakespearean play, part science fiction mystery- but all NOIR! :)

This bite comes from Mikael Bergkvist regarding the comic License to Kill.
The final epilogue is online – before the publication of the final fifth part of the series is out – just to mess with you a bit.
This is a small oneshot depicting something of the life our hero has after the smoke has cleared in the all-out part five, you know, the one with world war three in it..

So – Blaine, the guy that runs this site, brought it to my attention because he was going to post my increase of age on it this year. I do comics for those who don’t know and he wanted to add me to his list – anyway, I thought that it was a REALLY cool site and great for all of the Fankids out there and I know that Blaine puts a lot of work into it. Go check it out – even I think it’s cool.

NEWS! Another Fall title, a novel and the UMES Shorycon!
NEWS, NEWS, NEWS! Another Fall title, a novel and the UMES Shorycon!
Howdy folks, it’s been a busy, busy winter so far and we’ve got lots of things to tell you about!
First up is- Saturday , Feburary 27th UMES is having it’s annual SHORYCON!
That’s right, all the animae action you can shake a stick at- we’ll be there promoting ourselves as per ususal, and selling books, prints and more! Come by and see us. The event runs From 10 am – 1 pm in the morning! (we won’t be staying there till 1 though cus were old and need our sleep)
Next up- PLB Comics will not be publishing Seraphic # 0 this spring as previously announced. Seraphic Artist and Creator Mike Carmean has decided to take a different path and will be continuing Seraphic at a later date- be sure to keep an eye out for it! Seraphic has been a great story line at PLB and it certainly has helped tremendously to get our name out there, and has been a great addition to the “Presents” titles. We wish Mike all the best and tons of success as he embarks on his solo journey.
If you purchased an add space in Seraphic # 0 don’t worry, we’ll print your add in Fall # 0!
Now for the big news!
We’ve got another Fall title that will be coming out this summer! It’s called The Fall: Vengeance and Justice. It’ll be a black and white anthology book filled with gritty and hard hitting short stories by a variety of kick-ass indie artists! Keep your eyes peeled Fall fans, I’ll be posting some art from it soon!
Mat’s currently busy penciling more pages for Fall # 0 as we speak. Which will be the continuation of the Fall storyline from issues 1,2 and 3 of PLB Comics Presents, plus the pages from 1,2 and 3 all in FULL COLOR! Were hoping it will be done sometime next fall.
Also- I’m currently writing a modern day film noir novel that will have illustrations in it by a variety of awesome indie creators! It’s gonna be called: The Adventures of Jackson Q. Daniels: Nothing like a Dame. Don’t have a date for this one yet, it’s gonna take a while but I’m shooting for next spring.
And last but not least, Mat and I plan on finishing up our respective DangerSquad and Gideon and Sebastion story-lines from the “Presents” title. They will continue in a black and white split book format!
So, lots of new stuff to keep us busy, as always thanks for your continued support, and as always PREPARE FOR THE EXTREME!
XEVICOM.COM ALLOWS CUSTOMERS TO CHOOSE THEIR PRICE FOR ITS COMICS
Xevicom.com – home of bestselling science fiction author Ray Reid – Allows Customers to Pay Whatever Price They Want for its Graphic Novels
Xevicom.com and bestselling science fiction author Ray Reid have today announced that they will allow visitors to pick their own price for all digital titles sold on the website for the next month. This incredible offer will allow visitors to purchase Reid’s cult graphic novel, Xevicom Forever, for any value above $0.01. Although the digital edition comes with a guide price of $6.95, Xevicom.com will happily accept any value its customers wish to play. For comic book fans across the world there has never been a better time to discover Ray Reid’s dystopian world of the future.
“I’ve always wanted to share Xevicom Forever with as many people as I can,” Reid enthused, “and now I finally have that opportunity. I trust the comic book community to pay whatever they think is a fair value and I am happy to accept any amount for my work. I hate the idea that people are forced to pirate material they cannot necessarily afford and it is my hope that this little promotion will give a new wave of readers a chance to engage with my work.” When asked to comment upon his motivation the usually reclusive author replied, “Pieces of art shouldn’t be horded by their creators. It’s our duty to share our vision with as many people as we can. It is also our duty not to exploit people whenever we can. We all need to make a living, sure, but I think it’s time we started to trust our audiences.”
Xevicom Forever was originally conceived by Reid back in 2004 before entering a torrid period of development that almost saw the title never released. As this ambitious title languished in development hell Reid wrote a pair of cult science fiction and fantasy novels that drew an audience of thousands to his work. Xevicom Forever finally saw a limited digital release in 2007 however Reid, displeased with the compromised final product, reworked the script whilst his artists retooled their work to create the definitive version of this graphic novel which is now being offered for sale on xevicom.com. In addition to allowing readers to choose their price for Xevicom Forever Reid is also allowing visitors to the website to listen to his science fiction audio book, Cell, free of charge. In the coming weeks Reid also plans to offer his second novel, the epic fantasy book “The Half Broken Crown” to readers on similar terms. Reid is also writing a weekly blog that will hosted on xevicom.com for the foreseeable future.
