This completely beautiful twisty-turny bit of fabulousness hits shelves in November. J.M DeMatteis’ new all ages comic The Adventures of Augusta Wind is one of those comics just begging for attention.

DeMattieis work ranges from a run on Moonshadow to stint on Justice League. He’s known for his ability to tell captivating, heart warming stories and from the look of it, Augusta Wind is sure to be his most fantastical and gripping book yet.

In this miniseries, we follow the title character, young heroine Augusta Wind, across five issues of eye-popping, otherworldly realms as she uncovers and chases down her destiny. Visited out-of-the-blue by the Snabbit, a half-snake/half-rabbit, Augusta must leave all she knows behind to leap through colorful, magically envisioned worlds full of unbelievable creatures, high adventure, and heroic mystery! All of this brought to life at the able hands of Vassilis Gogtzilas (say that 5 times fast) and his incredible handle on this fantasy realm. The kooky creatures and colorful backdrops are reminiscent of Sam Kieth’s The Max, which just whets my appetite all the more.

To be sure this looks to be a really cool book. I can’t wait for November. I hate waiting.

The Adventures of Augusta Wind #1 (of 5) is full-color, 32 pages, and will be in stores in November. Diamond code: SEP 120285.

About - Preferring cats over dogs, and spending an inordinate amount of time researching comic books and comic book related news, Shawn Swanson is more of a geek than he claims to be, and 6 years of comic book journalism is a testament. Can I get an AMEN?!!!
