John Henry: The Steam Age Preview

SteamPunk is known for SciFi manipulations of history, that’s what we love about SteamPunk, gears and mechanical creatures right along side horse drawn buggies and frilly lace corsets.

The John Henry mythos fits nicely in this niche of real and make believe. In fact, upon closer inspection, I kind of wonder why it took so long for someone to marry the two.

If you dig SteamPunk as much as we do, I think you will agree John Henry looks to have some potential, and based on the preview, we want more.

DESCRIPTION:
John Henry, a former slave, wasn’t about to let some new-fangled steam hammer replace his ability to earn an honest wage as a steel driving man. He’d beat that machine, or die with his hammer in his hand. We all know the outcome of that legendary contest. In this alternate history, however, John doesn’t die in his heroic effort, but instead slips into a coma, only to awaken to his worst nightmare. A robotic uprising has occurred, and a new age has dawned – The Steam Age. Now, the only thing that can free the human race from the very machines they’ve created is John and his hammer. “John Henry: The Steam Age” is an exciting re-imagining of American folk hero John Henry in a SteamPunk setting.

About - Preferring cats over dogs, and spending an inordinate amount of time researching comic books and comic book related news, Shawn Swanson is more of a geek than he claims to be, and 6 years of comic book journalism is a testament. Can I get an AMEN?!!!
