Jean Henri Gaston Giraud, pseudonym, Moebius, A.K.A. one of the most influential comic book artists of our time, ask anyone.
Stan Lee, A.K.A. the most influential comic book creator of all time. Stan Lee practically invented modern superhero comics.
In 1988 these two certified comic book icons joined forces to create this incredible Silver Surfer 2 issue miniseries, which went on to win an Eisner Award for best finite/limited series in 1989.
In this Surfer tale Galactus has converted humanity into his followers, and is leading them to their demise. The only challenger of this evil plot is the Silver Surfer who has been trapped on Earth by Galactus. In this all out war the real question isn’t who will win, as much as, what will be left when the battle is over. While it’s been argued that this is an alternate Silver Surfer from a parallel earth since it doesn’t exactly fit with the common Surfer lore, I think it’s a mute argument. Simply put this is the best Silver Surfer mini ever produced, inconsistencies be damned, most of the Marvel Universe is convoluted anyway.
It looks like Marvel is planning on releasing this 104 page collection in January 2013. If you can’t wait until then, now would be a great time to start hunting the back issues box at your local comic shop, although I’ll be surprised if you find them.
