Brom, renown dark fantasy artist, to paint five Kickstarter-contributing fans as zombies for his new art book from Flesk Publications.

Worldwide—Several publisher-exclusive editions of Flesk Publications’ upcoming The Art of Brom, a hardcover art book dedicated to the published and private works of the renown dark fantasy illustrator, are being offered for pre-release availability through Kickstarter.com.

Contributors to the book’s 45-day Kickstarter campaign will receive a variety of incentives dependent upon the size of their pledge, with every supporter receiving a copy of The Art of Brom, and a signed print, and the first five top-tier pledgers being painted in oil as zombies, by the artist himself. The paintings will be given to the contributors and published in the book, which will contain over 200 pages spanning 30 years of illustration. The Art of Brom will be the largest, highest quality and most comprehensive retrospective ever published on the work of this extraordinary illustrator.

“Brom’s art is in a constant stage of evolution,” says Flesk publisher John Fleskes of their early discussions about the book. “In his early work his subjects tended to exemplify strength and power. Brom’s recent work draws more from the pre-Raphaelite vein—darkly romantic and classical. In The Art of Brom, we focus not on a single viewpoint, but encompass the growth of a career; the ongoing evolution of an artist. Furthermore, Brom the person is a delight. Even though he categorizes himself as a ‘dark’ artist, he is far from dark in person. He has a passion for life and is fun to work with.”

Each of the book’s images, including those previously published, have been rescanned from the original artwork, and color-corrected by the artist himself, ensuring meticulous reproduction quality. “What I’m most excited about is the opportunity to put together this art book the way I like art books to be put together,” says Brom. “Lots and lots of large full color images, and plenty of close ups to see the brush work.

“Kickstarter is a wonderful way to have a personal connection with those supporting my work, as well as a chance to offer an array of unique personalized items that won’t be able available in stores.”
