“He’s young, he’ll walk again.” The Dark Knight says in an unapologetic almost ominous tone after crushing a bad guy in front of a police officer, and my whole body shook with utter joy.
Finally Warner Brothers and DC comics are releasing Frank Millers awe-inspiring and quintessential Batman story as an animated film. The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 is coming to Blu-ray and DVD. Personally I’d like to see this one on the big screen, but beggars can’t be choosers.
Featuring the voice talent of Peter Weller (RoboCop) as an old grizzly Batman and Carrie Kelly (Modern Family) as the teenage female version of Robin, The Dark Knight Returns has the potential of being one of the best DC animated films yet.
The battles range from the Joker to Two Face in this brutal tale, but I think we all can agree, the fight we’re dying to see is the epic Batman vs. Superman bout.
If you haven’t read the comic, you should, but if you haven’t, the story goes something like this. “It is ten years after an aging Batman has retired, and Gotham City has sunk deeper into decadence and lawlessness. Now, when his city needs him most, the Dark Knight returns in a blaze of glory.” It’s Batman, old, scared up, and totally bad ass, it’s The Dark Knight at his best in my book.
Enough talking, here’s the trailer and then go buy the Blu-ray. It came out today!
