The Lost Language of Babel

Com.X is always on my radar. They consistently publish and produce the most interesting and enticing comics. In December their latest effort Babble is set to hit the scene and I have little doubt this one is going to be a crazy ride.

Written by Lee Robinson, an up and coming writer on the indie scene, and illustrated by Brian Coyle, another rising star, Babble tells the story of Carrie Hartnoll, a girl lost in a life going nowhere fast. A chance encounter with an ex-boyfriend affords her the opportunity of a new career in Ivy League America, working as part of a research team attempting to resurrect the language of Babel – a language, it is theorized, that can be understood by any human, from anywhere in the world. As Carrie pieces together her fractured personal life, she becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the apparent suicide of the project’s original team leader, which propels her to uncover the horrific truth about the language and why it was written out of the history books…

Babble sounds cool right?

I’m completely intrigued. Expect a review of this beautiful book in the very near future. You should also expect to see this one popping up in Diamond’s October catalogue. Be on the lookout.

About - Preferring cats over dogs, and spending an inordinate amount of time researching comic books and comic book related news, Shawn Swanson is more of a geek than he claims to be, and 6 years of comic book journalism is a testament. Can I get an AMEN?!!!
