Mike Del Mundo is one of the few cover artists out there right now who consistently creates work that is both imaginative and thought provoking, a real feat in my book.

Here is a link to his work: deadlydelmundo.com, I think you will especially appreciate the stained glass incredible hulk cover.

There are so many titles coming out each month, it seems like covers have begun to take on a cookie cutter appearance. I saw at least 10 covers this month using the old superman standby, you know, the one where he is flying out of the cover and his fist is in your face. He’s coming right at you man! Once upon a time it was cool, these days it’s just tired.

I chose Untold Stories of Punisher Max #5 as the cover of the month because it creates questions. I want to know more. This cover makes me want to buy the book without even looking through it. Isn’t that what a cover is supposed to do? Someone needs to mention it to the comic book companies.

About - Preferring cats over dogs, and spending an inordinate amount of time researching comic books and comic book related news, Shawn Swanson is more of a geek than he claims to be, and 6 years of comic book journalism is a testament. Can I get an AMEN?!!!
